Set & Setting Checklist
What you bring into the room — internally and externally — shapes what the medicine can do.

Set (inner)
- One-sentence intention written down ("I'm here to…").
- Acknowledgement of fears or resistance — name them, don't fight them.
- Realistic expectation: not every session is profound; some are quiet.
- Permission to surrender control during the experience.
- Plan for what you'll do if difficult material surfaces (breathe, soften, trust).
Setting (outer)
- Comfortable reclining position with support for neck and knees.
- Eye mask or low-light environment.
- Headphones with curated music (your clinic may provide).
- Blanket; rooms are often cool.
- Water within reach for after.
- Phone silenced and out of reach.
- Trusted person available afterward, not during, unless your clinic involves them.
After the session
- Low-light, low-stimulation environment for at least 2 hours.
- Simple, easy-to-digest food when appetite returns.
- Brief journal note: image, feeling, word — not analysis.
- Early bedtime.
