Breathwork
Simple breath practices regulate the nervous system and can ease the days after a session.
Why breath
Breathing is one of the few autonomic processes you can directly influence. Slowing the exhale tends to engage the parasympathetic response.
Safe baseline practices
Box breathing, physiological sighs, and resonant breathing are gentle and broadly accessible. Avoid high-intensity hyperventilation styles without trained supervision.
Practices to try
- Box breath: 4 in, 4 hold, 4 out, 4 hold
- Physiological sigh: double inhale, long exhale
- Resonant breathing at ~6 breaths/min
